Being ready for summer means knowing what you’re going to wear for carnival events, parties, cruises and lazy days lounging by the pool or beach.Once again this year, the Pompasette Brunch Party served up endless options from Barbadian and Caribbean designers.
The fashion lovers who gathered at the Barbados Museum and Historical Society recently had more than their fill of style from 15 local and regional designers.
The beach babes and cruisers had lots to choose from including designs by Express Bikini, Suga Apple Swim, NieuwLook and Marie Collette.
Styles ranged from bikinis to one-pieces and bandeau tops to long-sleeved numbers. The fabrics included shimmering silvers and golds, neon solids and pineapple prints – all impactful in their own right.
Garments that move well always command a runway and if there was an award for that, it would go Butterfly Allumini designed by Barbadian Roy Thompson. He presented one of the most cohesive collections to rock the Pompasette catwalk. Because he used a simple blue and white palette, the focus was on the construction of the pieces and the way they flowed on the runway.
While it was the first fashion show for Ole Luck Love, designer Maria Rose served up well-coordinated ponchos, jewellery and upcycled denim bags. As far as fully styled looks go, Ole Luck impressed.

Ladies looking for impactful yet easy to wear pieces would’ve fallen in love with the mini collection from Grenada’s Always Leid. The colourful shift dresses will stand out in any crowd and the watermelon print is perfect for a hot summer day.
Barbados’ Vintaj Life impressed with fun, flirty looks which struck the delicate balance between throwback and modern.
Young local designer Alanna Grant showed her growth with an Anna Rose Designs collection which included both menswear and womenswear.

Most of the looks were casual, but fashionistas looking for something more elegant had a range of fascinators to choose from, thanks to Candi Fab.
Also showing were Trinidad’s Sunshine868 , Lisa’s Fabrics, SM Warner and Renee Wu Designs and local line Juice Apparel.
The event also featured pop-up shops from a number of artisans and live painting by Von Hall.
Here are some more fabulous looks from the 2018 Pompasette Brunch Party.
