We’re going regional!
InMyWardrobe will be in St Vincent and the Grenadines on March 25 and 26, 2017 for FLOW Fashion Caribbean which is being held in association with Grenadine House.
I love the vibrancy of Caribbean fashion and I can’t wait to see what the designers have to offer. I’m also excited about the opportunity to purchase some of their work.
What is Fashion Caribbean?
Fashion Caribbean, hosted by Image Modelling Agency, started in 2001 as a showcase of Caribbean designers and Vincentian models. Over the years, Rhaj Paul, Meiling, Avark and Claudia Pegus were among the big names to grace the runway.
This year more than 15 designers from Trinidad, Antigua, British Virgin Islands and St. Vincent & the Grenadines will present full collections. Six “fresh faces” will showcase mini collections of three to four pieces.
The fashion show will take place on March 25 at SVG Community College. The following day, we get to meet some of the designers and shop their work at the trunk show at Grenadine House
Who are the designers?
Two new brands from SVG will make their debut and three regional designers who will be in St Vincent for the first time.
Ngozi, the new clothing line by Ikesha Delpesche, will make its runway debut. Ikesha, who is well known for her accessories line Ikesha Art, jumps into the world of women’s wear with her “Conscious Glamour”.
The second brand to make its first appearance on the catwalk will be Kamille, a label by Image Model Dr. Sherina Slater. She will showcase hand-crocheted pieces from her new label.
Kimon Baptiste, Kimya Glasgow and Peta Odini and Poshelle by Lisa Cordice will also have their time in the spotlight.
Karen DeFreitas of Soka, who I featured here a couple years ago, will be showing her Charles Olive Menswear collection at the event.
Three of the 2016 Fresh Face designers will make their return to the stage as full fledged Fashion Caribbean designers: Chenise Hendrickson, Olecia Lynch and Rachel Bailey.
Afrofunkk of Trinidad and Mr Henre Designs of Antigua will be showing for the very first time in St Vincent. Other regional designers include Ecliff Elie who will showcase his new menswear collection, Trefle of BVI and perhaps one of the most prestigious names in Caribbean Fashion, Robert Young of The Cloth Caribbean.
See why I’m excited? Keep an eye on Instagram over the weekend for all the happenings and of course, check back here for extensive coverage.
