14 Nail Polishes Perfect for Darker Skin Tones

I was inspired to do this post after Black Twitter called out Mashable for including dark brown nail polishes in a list of Fall’s “ugliest” colours.  (See this article by Clutch. )Calling the browns nasty and likening them to “wearing the bathroom on your nails” obviously didn’t go over well with many women of colour. After all, these dark browns are actually perfect nudes for dark skin. Following the backlash they were removed from the list.

Women of colour know how hard it is to get underwear or shoes to perfectly match their skin. When brands say “nude” they seem to forget that it’s not an actual colour. What’s nude for Rihanna definitely isn’t  nude for Viola Davis. Nubian Skin has sought to rectify that with hosiery and underwear for a range of skin tones and Christian Louboutin unveiled different shades of nude shoes. But there is still lots of work to be done. Pale pink and light beige polishes are common but what about caramel or chocolate shades?

So without further ado, here are 14 nail polishes perfect for dark skin inclusive of flat colours, glitters and bronzes.

I am so ahoy to see darker ladies are finally included in this nude trend. I applauded CL when they introduced their shoes. Now this makes me even happier.
